ODOUR: Characteristic odour, true to the scent of lemons. Fresh, zesty, crisp, citrusy, clean aroma with a top note.
COLOUR: Colourless to pale yellow/greenish ' yellow.
EXTRACTION METHOD: The oil is extracted through the process of steam distillation of the peel of the fruit.
There are references to lemon going back to the first century B.C. Lemon Oil is believed to have been used by the Ancient Egyptians to detoxify the body. Lemon trees are native to Asia but grow wild in the Mediterranean, to a height of about 6 metres, and are cultivated in many other countries around the world.
Lemon Essential Oil works in different areas of your everyday life, from household cleaning to freshening the air. Refreshing and invigorating, Lemon Essential Oil is often used in aromatherapy to leave you feeling energised.
Thanks to its purifying and cleansing powers, Lemon Essential Oil is often used in the preparation of skincare products, toners and cleansers, especially for those people with oily skin types, leaving it nourished and smooth.
Lemon Essential Oil can also be used in combination to your regular shampoo for shiny, healthy looking hair. Lemon Oil is often used in hair care products for those with oily hair as it has balancing properties.
How to Use
Dilution: Dilute at a percentage of 1% of the finished blend, typically 20 drops or 1ml of essential oil to 100ml of carrier oil. Do not use undiluted on the skin. You can use up to 3% dilution for use on your body or in the bath.
Skincare: Use Lemon Oil to make your own simple facial toner by adding a few drops to Witch Hazel (#702).
Massage: Use Lemon Oil to make your own massage blend. We recommend Sweet Almond (#215), Grapeseed (#210) or Coconut Oil (#203).
Aromatherapy: Add a few drops to your oil burner or diffuser and enjoy the invigorating and refreshing aroma of Lemon.
Haircare: Add a couple of drops of Lemon to your shampoo for a refreshing hit when you shower or try creating an intensive hair mask. We suggest a few drops of essential oil in Jojoba Oil (#233). Massage the blend into the scalp and leave it on for 1-2 hours before washing your hair. Top tip ' to emulsify the oil and to help it rinse out easier, we suggest you begin to lather your hair with shampoo before adding water. You may need to wash your hair twice to ensure all the oil is removed.
Blends well with: Lemon generally blends well with other citrus and floral oils. Chamomile, Cedarwood, Clary Sage, Eucalyptus, Lavender, Lime, Orange, Palmarosa, Patchouli, Pine, Rosemary, Sandalwood.
As with any new product always conduct a patch test before first use.
Consult your doctor or midwife before using during pregnancy.
