Description
INGREDIENTS: 100% Olive Extra Virgin Oil
INCI: Olea europaea
COUNTRY OF ORIGIN: Spain
ODOUR: Characteristic Olive Oil scent
COLOUR: Yellow to green
EXTRACTION METHOD: The oil is extracted by cold pressing the fruit of the Olea europaea tree, or the olive tree. This traditional, ever green tree from the Mediterranean grows in warm climates and produces fruits that are packed full of vitamins and minerals. Our Extra Virgin Oil is unrefined so it maintains as much as the fruits nutrients as possible.

The olive tree is one of the oldest plants in the world. There is literature from the Egyptians, Greeks and Romans relating to the tree and its fruit. In ancient Greece, athletes ritually rubbed it all over their bodies for a mystical glow.

You may think Olive Oil is just for cooking, but jam packed with nutrients, vitamins and fatty acids, our Extra Virgin Olive Oil is perfect for your skin and hair too.

It contains a high amount, around 70%, of the essential fatty acid Oleic Acid, an Omega 9 acid which makes this oil super moisturising, ideal for those with very dry skin. The oil penetrates deeply into the skin and is known to provide a shield against the elements. It absorbs at a fairly slow rate so is ideal for those requiring intensive moisturisation.

It also contains a significant amount of the Omega 7 fatty acid Palmitoleic Acid, which is present in younger skin but diminishes with age. Olive Extra Virgin Oil is high in natural antioxidants and vitamins which makes it an excellent choice for skincare, particularly beneficial for those with mature skin. Antioxidants help fight damage causing free radicals in the skin that causes premature aging.

Naissance Extra Virgin Olive Oil is an emollient, so it makes an excellent all round moisturiser that penetrates deeply into the skin and is known to provide a shield against the elements. It is absorbed slowly by the skin so is ideal for those with very dry skin requiring intensive moisturisation. These emollient properties also make it a popular choice for massage, as it allows the hands to glide over the skin, whilst nourishing and softening.

Olive Extra Virgin Oil is beneficial to haircare. Its ultra conditioning and helps the hair to retain moisture. It is known for its protective qualities and may provide a natural barrier against dirt, and pollution. It can help tame frizz and make hair more manageable.

How to Use
Massage: Can be used on its own or combined with other oils to make your own massage oil blend. It does have a medium to slow absorption rate so you may want to combine it with a faster penetrating oil like Grapeseed (#210). Why not try adding some essential oils for added benefits?

Skincare: Olive Extra Virgin makes an excellent all over skin moisturiser. Use as a gentle and effective cleanser and make-up remover. Can be used as a natural alternative to commercial shaving foams. It will help prevent razor burn and moisturise the skin at the same time.

Haircare: Try Extra Virgin Olive Oil as a warm oil treatment to deliver those antioxidants directly to the root. You can use it by itself or combine with another hair loving carrier oil like Avocado Oil (#231). Warming the oil, helps it to penetrate the hair strand but make sure it's not too hot, you don't want to burn yourself. Massage the warmed oil into your hair and scalp and comb it through. Cover with a shower cap and leave for at least 30 minutes. Wash as normal. Top tip ' add the shampoo to dry hair and begin to lather before adding water to begin to emulsify the oil so it will rinse out more effectively.

Beauty Hack: Use as an ingredient in skincare for creams, lotions, face and body oils, serums and balms.

Nailcare: Massage a couple of drops Olive Extra Virgin Oil into your fingertips to soften cuticles and strengthen your nails.

As with any new product always conduct a patch test before first use.

Food Use
All vegetable oils and fats are 100% fat and are generally high in calories (on average about 120 calories per tablespoon).

Vegetable oils are often used in food preparation for salad dressings, cooking, frying, baking, sauces and marinades. As a general guide, virgin and unrefined oils have more of the oil's natural flavour and lend themselves well for use in cold dishes. Refined oils generally have longer shelf lives and may have a higher smoke point and therefore be better for high heat cooking, but this varies depending on the type of oil.

Each oil has its own distinct flavour and nutrient and Fatty Acid composition, so each oil may be used for different purposes depending on your need.
